Good evening, Asbury families. This is Elizabeth Franks, the principal of Asbury Elementary School. In an effort to keep our families informed, I would like to share the following information with you.
This afternoon after school had been dismissed for the day, a vehicle struck the side of the school building. Fortunately, students and the majority of staff were gone for the day and no one was injured. The city has already assessed the building and determined it is safe for students and staff to return tomorrow.
Safety remains our top priority. While the building is structurally sound, one classroom has been affected. That space will be securely boarded off, and the class will be relocated to another section of the school.
We will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure a safe and smooth transition for students and staff. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school at 757-850-5075.
Thank you for your continued support.
No details regarding injuries have been released.
