(Photo credit to Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN—(KFOR Jan. 17)—An online bitcoin scam has left a 67-year-old rural Waverly man out $150,000 he invested from his retirement funds.  According to Lancaster County Chief Deputy Sheriff Ben Houchin, the man was interested in investing into bitcoin last fall and started researching companies.  He found Burge Block Chain Technology and put the money from his retirement into an account.  The victim believed his investment grew to $28-million.  But Houchin says the victim reported the company wouldn’t allow him to withdraw the money.  Instead, the company informed the man that he owed them 33% of his earnings.  The man had been communicating with the company through WhatsApp.  Houchin said the app is not a common way for legitimate companies to communicate. An investigation is ongoing.
