LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Lafayette police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection to a shooting investigation at an indoor family entertainment park.
The Lafayette Police Department confirmed Friday night that detectives have arrested a 16-year-old male and charged him with criminal reckless and dangerous firearm possession. The charges stem from a shots fired incident earlier this week at Malibu Jack's inside the Tippecanoe Mall.
LPD crews were called around 5:45 p.m. Thursday to a possible shooting inside Malibu Jack's. Police "promptly arrived" to find that no one was shot or injured during the incident.
Detectives immediately launched an investigation into what spawned the call. The investigation led police to an unidentified 16-year-old male who was then arrested on Friday.
"The Lafayette Police Department emphasizes that shooting-related calls are taken with the utmost seriousness, and this type of behavior will not be tolerated in our community," LPD said in a release. "Our response reflects our commitment to public safety and our determination to hold those engaging in reckless or dangerous actions accountable."
No other information was immediately provided by LPD. This article will be updated with more details as they are released.
