Festival of Ice happening this weekend in Carmel CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — While temperatures may be warming up Friday, that’s not stopping one winter festival.  The Festival of Ice returns this weekend in Carmel. It kicks off Friday at 4 p.m., and will run through Sunday. This event is also free and open to public.  “We will have sculptors on Main Street today showing off their skills,” said Tierra Bush, project manager of events for the City of Carmel. “You can drive by or walk by, you can see all the amazing creations they’re going to put together today.” The festival will also include ice feature demonstrations by professional ice carvers, a people’s choice carving competition, speed carving and, the Carmel Fire Department chili cook-off.   “The most important thing I am looking forward to is the local competition for our Carmel Fire Department there competing for the chili cook-off,” Bush said. There will be food and beverage for purchase, along with ice skating and a DJ.  “So, once you come in and see all of the artwork going on and being carved up, we have the people’s choice award,” Bush said. “So, you can come and vote on your favorite sculptor. The winner will be announced on Sunday at 10.”
