Mokulele aims to resume flight operations within next 48 hours

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Mokulele Airlines passengers will to able to fly once again within the next 48 hours, according to the company's latest statement.

The airline grounded all flights on Wednesday, Jan. 15 for maintenance inspections. Louis Saint-Cyr, COO and President of Hawaii Operations, said the grounding was voluntary.

"Southern Airways and Mokulele Airlines took voluntary and precautionary measures to ensure the health of its fleet which resulted in the cancellation of multiple flights in Hawaii and the mainland. These proactive safety measures reflect our unwavering commitment to safety," Saint-Cyr said in a statement.
The company is working towards resuming full flight operations and said the process should be completed within the next 48 hours.
"Passengers with questions about their flights should contact our customer service team."
With Mokulele being Molokai's only passenger airline, residents struggled to travel interisland. Residents and lawmakers hope for more long-term solutions.
