(WGHP) -- After a warmer day Friday, temperatures fall into the 40s this evening. Skies remain mostly clear for the next several hours but cloud cover will slowly increase overnight and into Saturday morning. Rain moves in through the early morning hours Saturday with most of the Piedmont Triad seeing rain by 7 AM. The good news is the rain moves through in the morning and leaves by midday. A mix of sun and clouds for the afternoon with highs reaching the low 50s. Isolated to scattered showers are possible on Sunday with a cold front. Temperatures will fall throughout the day but morning temperatures will start in the upper 30s with highs occurring midday, around 46 degrees. Temperatures fall into the afternoon with many below freezing by Sunday evening. Once temperatures drop below freezing Sunday evening, they'll remain below freezing for the next ~92 hours (until Thursday afternoon). If the cold air is able to catch up to the lingering moisture on Sunday afternoon, we may see a brief snow shower with very little accumulation expected. Dry, arctic air arrives behind Sunday's cold front which will help temperatures plummet into Monday. We'll start the day Monday in the mid to upper 10s but because of breezy northwest winds, it'll feel more like the single digits!! The afternoon doesn't look much better with highs in the upper 20s and feels like temperatures in the 10s. Temperatures get even colder into Tuesday morning with lows around 11 degrees. Afternoon highs remain well below freezing with temperatures in the upper 20s. We're watching the potential for snowfall overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday morning, right now the chance is low. Keep checking back in over the weekend as we get a better idea of what we could see in the Triad. Partly cloudy skies Wednesday with temperatures remaining frigid. Morning lows in the low 10s with highs in the upper 20s. This marks day 3 of temperatures remaining below freezing. We finally see the potential to thaw out by Thursday, but not by much. We'll start the day around 13 degrees but afternoon highs finally reach above freezing, in the mid 30s. By Friday, temperatures start off in the 20s with highs in the low 40s and a 20% chance for precipitation.
