SURING, Wis. (WFRV) - The Suring Police Department marks the end of an era with the retirement of Chief Kevin Schneider, who dedicated 33 years to serving and protecting the community. Chief Schneider received a traditional 10-42 send-off, a ceremonial radio call for retiring law enforcement officers, and a heartfelt tribute shared by the Oconto County Sheriff's Office. After his military service, he transitioned to law enforcement, serving as a state trooper and later as a police officer for the Algoma Police Department. He then took on leadership roles, first as the police chief for the City of Gillett, before concluding his distinguished career as chief of police in the Village of Suring. "He has served the people with unwavering commitment and integrity," Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban shared in a social media post. "During his tenure, he not only enforced the law but also inspired many of us through his leadership, guidance, and steadfast dedication to public safety."
