EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- A 31-year-old man has been arrested and is facing a charge of possession of child pornography, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.
After an investigation by its Majors Crimes Unit, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said it obtained an arrest warrant for Stephen Roder. Roder was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on Tuesday, Jan. 14, under a charge of possession of child pornography/depicting or video. He was booked under a $100,000 bond, the Sheriff's Office said.
The investigation initially started back in December when deputies were called out to the El Paso Multi-Use Facility, 1650 Horizon Blvd, about a report of someone possessing child pornography. Deputies met with the reporting party, who told them a person had been found in possession of explicit images on his cell phone.
The case was then transferred to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit for further investigation. Through their efforts, detectives determined that the subject, later identified as Roder, was in possession of over 50 "illicit" images. Based on these findings, the Majors Crimes Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Roder.
"The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to investigating and addressing crimes involving the exploitation of children. This investigation is ongoing, and no further details will be available at this time," the Sheriff's Office said in its news release.
