Guadalajara native to be ordained as new priest

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A Guadalajara native will be ordained by the Diocese of El Paso as a priest on Friday night, Jan. 17 at El Paso's St. Patrick Cathedral, the Diocese said.
The priestly ordination of Anwar Alfonso Camarena Zeferín will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 at the cathedral, 1118 N. Mesa St.

Bishop Mark J. Seitz will preside over the "sacred and solemn celebration," the Diocese of El Paso said.
Zeferín has been serving the El Paso Catholic community at Most Holy Trinity Parish in Northeast El Paso, according to the Diocese of El Paso.
According to the Diocese, Zeferín began his religious journey at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in the Diocese of San Juan de los Lago, where he completed his introductory courses, and then at the Seminary of Guadalajara., majoring in philosophy.
Zeferín then applied to the El Paso Diocese, where he was welcomed as a seminarian.
He spent one year at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary and completed his theological studies at St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, California.
"Tonight’s ordination marks the culmination of years of preparation, prayer, and discernment. Ashe becomes a priest, Anwar Alfonso Camarena Zeferín will join the ranks of those called to servethe faithful through the sacraments, pastoral care, and evangelization," the Diocese said.
