GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Lions fever is in full effect across Michigan. To celebrate the Lions’ successful season and the excitement around a potential playoff run, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II proclaimed January 18 as Honolulu Blue Day in Michigan. The top-seeded Lions (15-2) earned a bye for the first round of the NFL playoffs and will kick off postseason play on Saturday, hosting the Washington Commanders (12-5) at Ford Field. The winner will advance to the NFC championship game: one win away from a trip to the Super Bowl. Amid Lions’ historic run, Detroit feeling ‘electric’ The Lions are in the middle of their best season in franchise history. Their 15 regular-season wins are a franchise record, along with their 11-game winning streak and 8 consecutive road wins. The offense also set franchise records in points scored in a season (564), touchdowns (70), first downs (410) and games with 40-plus points (6).
