AUSTIN (KXAN) — Elgin ISD announced Thursday it selected an architect and location for the district's second middle school, which is expected to open in Fall 2027. Middle School No. 2 will be built on a 140-acre site off Farm-to-Market 1704 in Bastrop County, according to the district. The project was one the district outlined in the 2024 school district bond package, where voters approved a $375 million bond to address enrollment growth, student safety, career and technical education and maintenance projects. A sixth elementary school was also outlined as part of the bond package, as well as career and technical education improvements, athletic improvements, new buses and other campus upgrades.
