Metrobus driver dies after medical emergency, bus runs into building in Riverdale

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority (WMATA) said a Metrobus driver who had a medical emergency Friday morning died after the bus ran into a building in Riverdale.
WMATA said the crash involved a bus on its F4 Route while the bus was near Queensbury Road and Rhode Island Avenue.

Prince George's County Fire and EMS Department shared a picture of the aftermath in the 6200 block of Rhode Island Ave. on the X platform, noting that the incident happened around 6:20 a.m. and that the building was vacant.
WMATA said six customers were on board at the time of the wreck. None of them was hurt.
Medics took the driver of the bus to the hospital before he died.
"The operator's family and Metro have suffered a great loss. Please keep us in your thoughts," WMATA said in an email sent to DC News Now.
"Oh my gosh... I couldn't believe it," said Andrea Roberts. who lives in the area. "It is very scary."
