Andover Fire-Rescue says the fire was contained within a steel tank. Firefighters worked closely with a chemist from Sherwin-Williams to develop a plan to extinguish the fire. Once the plan was in place, firefighters extinguished the fire around 5:30 a.m. Andover Fire-Rescue says there was no material runoff from the site, and no hazardous substances were released beyond dissipating smoke.
During the fire, one Sherwin-Williams employee sustained minor burns. The employee was treated at the scene and released.
Andover Fire-Rescue is working with Sherwin-Williams to determine the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, the department remains on site to monitor the situation.
