Suspect arrested for armed robbery at Sam's Food Store in Sturbridge

STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WWLP) - A suspect was arrested on Wednesday following an armed robbery incident in Sturbridge.

On Wednesday, at 8:48 p.m., officers were sent to a report of an armed robbery in the Sam's Food Store parking lot on Main Street. The victim stated that a man had shown a knife and tried to steal his wallet and laptop from his vehicle before taking off.
When officers arrived, a search was initiated for the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was spotted traveling on Route 20 near Baba Sushi with no headlights on. A traffic stop was conducted and after an investigation, the driver was identified as the suspected armed robber.
The driver was taken into custody without incident and was arraigned on Thursday. He faces the following charges:
Armed Robbery
Possession of Burglarious Instruments
Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Lights Violation
Marked Lanes Violation
