Santa Fe police arrest suspected car thief

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Santa Fe police have released a video of a recent chase followed by the arrest of a suspected car thief. On Saturday, January 11 police say they got a tip about a stolen vehicle seen posted on social media.

Officers found the car with the suspect in it at a home on North Platee Rd. After a chase, the suspect, was able to get away.
On Wednesday, police were called about a suspicious vehicle parked near Rufina Street and Joshua Ln. The car was idling and the suspect was asleep in the driver's seat.
Police asked him to open the door, but were forced to break the window. Police later arrested 35-year-old Omar Aguirre. He is now facing charges including vehicle theft and evading an officer.
At this time, police are searching for the white Hyundai Sonata from the initial chase.
