Redlands’ Lincoln Memorial Shrine announces annual open house and Lincoln Dinner

Redlands’ Lincoln Memorial Shrine will celebrate President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday with its annual open house and the 93rd Watchorn Lincoln Dinner.
The free open house, featuring live music, Civil War reenactors and family activities, is scheduled 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 1 in the Lincoln Shrine and outside in Smiley Park.
The 1st Pennsylvania Light Artillery will provide hourly cannon demonstrations and President Lincoln presenter Robert Broski will recite the Gettysburg Address, according to a news release.
In addition, the Lincoln Shrine’s new exhibition, “…That All Men Are Created Equal,” featuring a selection of items from the American Slavery Collection, will open that day.
The open house will be preceded by the annual Lincoln Pilgrimage, which will include a program on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial Shrine at 10:30 a.m.
The Lincoln Memorial Shrine is behind the A.K. Smiley Public Library, 125 W. Vine St., Redlands.
The celebration of Lincoln’s birthday continues with the 93rd Watchorn Lincoln Dinner, to be held the evening of Feb. 12 at University of Redlands’ Orton Center. Jonathan White, professor of American studies at Christopher Newport University, will provide the keynote address, “Abraham Lincoln and the Power of the Emancipation Proclamation.”
Cost for the Lincoln Dinner is $79 for Lincoln Memorial Association contributors who donate or renew in January 2025 and $89 for the general public. For reservations, call 909-798-7632 or email [email protected]. Deadline for reservations is Feb. 1 or until the event is sold out.
