RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A speed camera is out for repairs on Midlothian Turnpike in Richmond after a driver crashed their vehicle into it on Friday morning. At around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, Richmond Police officers were called to the 3100 block of Midlothian Turnpike for the report of a crash. When officers arrived on scene, they found a driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, had crashed their vehicle into a speed camera. According to police, the driver was traveling southbound on West Blake Lane and was attempting to turn left onto Midlothian Turnpike when she hit the camera with her vehicle. No injuries were reported, however police said the camera was damaged and will temporarily be out for repairs. The investigation into this incident is ongoing. The Richmond Police Department reminds drivers to slow down when traveling on the roadway as some areas that look wet may be icy.
