Wet And Wintry Weather This Weekend!
Jan 17, 2025
Today is relatively easy-going in terms of the weather. Enjoy it now, because things get busier this weekend! We’ll have highs in the mid to upper 30s, and plenty of sunshine. Tonight stays mostly clear, and lows will be in the mid 20s.
While we start with a bit of sun on Saturday, clouds increase into the afternoon. Highs will be very mild for this time of year– expect the mid 40s. However, there’s not much time to enjoy the pleasantly mild air, as rain moves in Saturday afternoon around 3 PM. We’ll start with lighter showers, then progress to heavier rain by Saturday evening. Rain tapers off around 10 PM or so.
We wake up to more sunshine on Sunday morning. It’ll be be breezy and highs will remain mild in the low 40s. That said, our next storm arrives Sunday evening. This one will bring accumulating snow!
Right now, it looks like snow will start to move into our area around 6:30 PM or so on Sunday. Those snow showers will intensify overnight, and taper off early Monday, moving out entirely by around 8:30 AM. In that time period, many of us could see between 2-4″ of snow, with the lightest spots looking at a coating – 2″. With many people off of work and school for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, commuting should be a touch easier than it would be otherwise after this taste of winter weather. That said, if you do have to hit the roads, be careful of any smaller, untreated backroads, as they could be slippery.
After the snow comes the extreme cold. We’re getting a blast of Arctic air that will send high temperatures into the upper teens and 20s for a few days. Lows will be in the single digits. Stay warm!
