WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A 32-year-old Charlestown man was sentenced Friday in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash back in 2022. Aramis Segura has been sentenced to serve 17 years in prison. He pleaded no contest last October to driving as to endanger resulting in death and duty to stop in an accident resulting in death. Olivia Passaretti, 17, was driving home early on New Year’s Day when her car was rear-ended on I-95 South. The impact forced her car off the highway and down an embankment, where it struck a tree and rolled over. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe Segura was speeding when he hit Passaretti’s car. He ran off into the woods after the crash and allegedly called his then-girlfriend Alicia Peckham to come pick him up. He was later arrested at his home in Charlestown. In October, Peckham was found guilty of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death as an aider and abettor, harboring a criminal, and obstruction of justice. She was sentenced to three years, with 10 months to serve at the ACI and two years for the rest of her time in home confinement. She was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and complete 200 hours of community service Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now Daily Roundup SIGN UP NOW
