Watertown teacher charged with simple assault involving a student

WATERTOWN, S.D.–A Watertown school teacher has been arrested and charged with simple assault.
School District Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen revealed that information in a letter sent Thursday that was addressed to McKinley Elementary School parents.
In the letter, Danielsen states the assault involved, “a bruise on a student at McKinley.”
The teacher, who was not identified, has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation and the completion of the legal process.
Danielsen says school district officials have no evidence that this alleged assault involved any other students.
Danielsen ended the letter by saying the Watertown School District makes student safety and well-being of utmost importance.
