VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) -- USD is set to formally introduce Travis Johansen as their 31st head coach in their football program's history on Friday. Bob Nielson steps down as USD head coach Johansen has been an assistant coach at three different schools starting in 2006. Most recently, he was the associate head coach and defensive coordinator for USD since 2019. Travis was the defensive coordinator and secondary coach at Grand View prior to his time at USD. He was there from 2013-18. The Blaine, Minnesota native began his coaching career at Concordia St. Paul as a defensive assistant from 2006-12.
