UPDATE: Jan. 17 at 9 a.m. A filed citation provided additional information on one of the individuals who was arrested in connection to the traffic stop that led to a foot chase on Thursday on Russell Cave Road. The citation read that officers attempted a traffic stop after police found that the vehicle was reportedly connected to a shooting. The vehicle then sped off and proceeded to hit multiple vehicles in the area. The police air unit observed the vehicle recklessly navigating through the roadway on New Circle Road. The citation detailed the vehicle became stuck after going through a field with train tracks.A man, identified in the citation as Cyriaque Modokossi, then fled from the vehicle and ran away from officers. Air units observed a man "throw a handgun into the treeline," which was later seized by police. An officer then tackled Modokossi and placed him in custody. Upon a search of the vehicle, police reportedly found a "small amount of marijuana in a plastic bag," along with a grinder with marijuana residue on it. Modokossi has been charged with several crimes, including reckless driving, fleeing or evading police, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest, and buy/possession of drug paraphernalia. According to Lexington police, officers attempted to make a traffic stop in the early afternoon Thursday when the vehicle fled. The vehicle then stopped around the 1000 block of Russell Cave Road, where the subjects fled on foot. They were then detained and arrested. The charges and the identities of the individuals are currently unknown.
