RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A man has died in a shooting that happened at the North Hills shopping plaza Friday morning. Around 11 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 4300 block of Circle at North Hills Street. Officers said that a second man is in critical condition and a third man has non-life-threatening injuries. In a photo provided to CBS 17, a sheet can be seen covering what appears to be a body. All schools in the area, including Brooks Magnet Elementary School, Carroll Magnet Middle School, Douglas Magnet Elementary School, Green Magnet Elementary School and Aldert Root Elementary School are currently on code green after being on lockdown due to the incident, according to Wake County Public School System officials. Employees at Fink's Jewelers in the North Hills plaza said that they are also currently on lockdown. Employees at Edible Art Bakery said that police have instructed that no one can go in or out of their establishments at this time. We haven't been able to reach anybody for when we can leave," a sales associate from Bonobos said. In a post on X (formally Twitter) North Carolina Governor Josh Stein said, "I have talked with [Raleigh Police] Chief Patterson and offered whatever assistance she may need from the state. For the time being, please stay away from the area and stay tuned to local law enforcement for more information." Police said that Six Forks Road is closed around the North Hills area for the investigation. Traffic headed south should detour on Northbrook Drive to Interstate 440. Traffic headed north should take Falls of Neuse Road. The public has been advised to avoid the area as officers investigate the area. This is breaking news. Check back with CBS 17 for updates.
