(COLORADO SPRINGS)—Extremely cold temperatures are set to approach Colorado on the evening of Friday, Jan. 17, and multiple public safety officials are set to discuss how to be safe during the predicted cold weather heading into the Pikes Peak Region. On Friday morning, officials will hold a meeting to talk about proper preparedness activities and how they are preparing to handle the cold weather. During the meeting, speakers with the Colorado Springs Police Department, Colorado Springs Utilities, the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management, Public Works, and the City of Colorado Springs will speak more about this weekend's freezing temperatures and preparedness. Southern Colorado snow check-in Starting Friday evening, a powerful arctic front will affect the area, bringing snow and potential record-breaking temperatures. The coldest stretch of the outbreak is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 20 into Tuesday morning, Jan. 21, when temperatures may hit 20 degrees below zero. To watch the full meeting, click the link above.
