5th annual MouseCon returns to Kern County Fairgrounds tomorrow
Jan 17, 2025
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Well, the fairgrounds as you know it is pretty empty and barren right now, but give it some time. Soon, it's going to be a whole new world.
The Kern County Fairgrounds is getting a Disneyland makeover for the 5th annual Mouse-Con.
Jim Meskimen speaks for many at Mouse-Con
"Saturday's going to be a great day to go stargazing in Bakersfield… it brings in a lot of vendors from the Disney world, it also brings in a lot of special guests," 17's entertainment reporter, Rick Bentley said.
Some of those special guests are Jim Cummings, the voice of Winnie the Pooh and Katie Von Till, one of four women to be allowed to voice Snow White.
That's right, "allowed." Not just anyone can take over those sacred roles.
For example, "When Jim Meskimen became the voice of the Genie, Robin Williams had to sign off on him being allowed to do the voice. They are very protective of those voices," Bentley explained.
Speaking of Meskimen, he's also making a rare appearance. He even spoke with Bentley ahead of Mouse-Con.
"I've done less than you can count on one hand. It's great, you learn about life and people and things. We all share in common admiration for these characters and different series and it's a great way to get to know people."

Snow White herself agrees, saying cons like these are a way to get to know and chat with those who appreciate their work.
Katie Von Till, the fourth voice of Snow White said, "They're just amazing. They're the only chance I really get to interact with fans. There's really no other place to do it than events like this. It's just been so heartwarming to be able to do that."
So if you want your chance to meet these celebrated talents and many more? There's no better place to do it than at the fairgrounds Saturday.
"This is a great place to go to a convention, it's usually big enough to get big name celebrities, but it's also not so big that you cannot spend time with them. So if you want a chance to actually meet and talk with somebody, Bakersfield's the place to go," Bentley explained.
Mouse-Con is tomorrow Jan. 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets for Mouse-Con are $12, children 12 and under get in free.
This year's events will also be collecting donations to support those impacted by the Southern California wildfires. Clothing, water, toiletries and gift cards are all accepted.
