Brief warm up Friday ahead of weekend temperature tumble
Jan 17, 2025
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- We're in for a bit of a bumpy weather ride next few days... let's dive in.
Today will be the warmest day of the next week with afternoon highs in the mid- to upper 60s under a mainly cloudy sky. A few spots of sprinkles &/or drizzle are possible within today's clouds... but the majority of us look to stay dry and those who do see rain are not likely to get anything measurable.
A cold front will plow in from the north early tomorrow. Temperatures will cool to the low 60s Saturday afternoon... but a reinforcing shot of arctic air will be delayed until later in the day, setting us up for a much colder Sunday.
Forecast wind chills Sunday morning
A stiff north breeze will be with us all day Sunday, meaning afternoon highs in the 40s won't even feel like 40s, but instead, 20s and 30s.
Weekend forecast
A light wintry mix is possible next week, especially Monday and Tuesday. Read our expectations for the cold and the precipitation in our First Warning weather blog below.
