COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Ohio-based White Castle's new president is the first non-family member to hold the role in the company's 104-year history.
The Columbus fast-food chain promoted Anthony Joseph, the company's chief administrative officer and general counsel, to the top position. Joseph joined the company in 2016 and will replace Lisa Ingram, whose great-grandfather E.W. "Billy" Ingram co-founded White Castle in 1921.
"Anthony's keen intellect, insight and devotion to the people of White Castle is evident in everything he does," said Ingram in a release. "His leadership of our strategic planning process and great ability to build highly successful teams will serve us well as he takes on the additional responsibilities as president."

Ingram will remain in the company as chief executive office, while Joseph will begin overseeing White Castle's retail and manufacturing divisions. Before White Castle, Joseph worked 15 years for Concessions International, a food and beverage company, as general counsel and president.
The 54-year-old is a graduate of Yale University and Columbia Law School, previously served on the boards of the National Restaurant Association and Columbus State Community College, and is actively on the board of the Ohio History Connection.
White Castle is home to about 340 locations, and a series of branded products in grocery stores nationwide. Last year, the company closed two manufacturing facilities in Kentucky and Indiana that impacted nearly 100 employees. What a previous NBC4 report on White Castle in the video player above.
