Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) is expected Friday afternoon to announce the Senate replacement for Vice President-elect JD Vance. With just days left until President-elect Trump returns to the Oval Office, Vance officially resigned from Congress a week ago. DeWine's replacement will serve until 2026. Two of the names floated so far have been Trump's former primary rival Vivek Ramaswamy — who was tapped to serve in an administration role — and Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted (R). While Republicans took control of the upper chamber in the 2024 election, delivering the GOP full control of government, their majorities remain slim.
