PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence City Councilor Justin Roias’ proposed amendments to the Community-Police Relations Act is now moving forward.
The amendments have now been referred to the ordinance committee for further discussion.
The amendments were introduced in response to concerns about potential mass detentions and deportations under the Trump administration.
The city council also received Mayor Smiley’s appointments to the school board.
The five members will be vetted by the committee on finance this month.
The full council will vote on their appointment February 6.
