FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Thousands of nails had to be picked up with brooms and magnets after being scattered across a Fresno roadway on Thursday morning, the California Highway Patrol said. According to Fresno Area CHP, the nails spilled onto both lanes of Highway 41, northbound Shaw Avenue on-ramp after an unsecured box fell from the back of a truck. In a social media post, CHP said "Thankfully not too many tires were nailed in the process." Patrol officers say roughly 2,000 nails had to be collected from the roadway. Clean-up took Caltrans about 45 minutes total.
