San Francisco man arrested in connection with Jan. 6 Capitol riot

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A San Francisco man was arrested on Wednesday for his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at the U.S. Capitol., the United States Department of Justice said. Frank Peter Molinari Giorgi Jr., 36, is accused of assaulting law enforcement on that day.
According to court documents, Giorgi emerged from the crowd of people broaching police lines and charged at a Capitol police officer. He then lunged into the officer and hit them with both hands, documents allege.

Giorgi retreated into the crowd after the officer held him off. The FBI later released an image of him when trying to identify rioters.
About two hours later, Giorgi was seen against on the Capitol's upper west terrace in a new hat. Officers were working to push rioters back when he allegedly moved through the crowd toward the officers.
Giorgi is accused of pushing back against the officers as they tried to move the crowd. He later allegedly grabbed an officer's head and neck, pulling them to the crowd.
Giorgi was charged with:
Assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers (felony)
Obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder (felony)
Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds (misdemeanor)
Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds (misdemeanor)
Disorderly conduct in a Capitol building (misdemeanor)
Engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds (misdemeanor)
Act of physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings (misdemeanor)
Giorgi is one of more than 1,583 people to be charged related to the Capitol breach. More than 600 people have been charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement.
