VALLEJO, Calif. (KRON) -- There are no suspects and only limited leads in the investigation into the shooting of a 4-year-old old girl in Vallejo last weekend, according to city officials. The child remains hospitalized as community and elected leaders met near the crime scene Thursday to push the public to help solve this crime.
For Solano County Supervisor Cassandra James, a 4-year-old girl getting shot while passing through the Crest neighborhood in Vallejo with her family Sunday night hit too close to home.
"I was bathing my 4-year-old when the gunshots erupted outside of my doorsteps," James said.

Supervisor James and Tinisch Hollins both live in the Crest. Hollins is also executive director of the nonprofit, Californians for Safety and Justice.
"To hear those gunshots go off and know that a 4-year-old child was injured is something that's resting on my spirit and many others who are in the community," Hollins said.
James and Hollins joined by the Vallejo Police Department personnel and members of the city council at a news conference held in a shopping center Thursday near the scene of the crime.Police did not offer any updates on the case but say it's a priority.
"Our detectives have been working tirelessly to bring the person or persons, who committed this act, to justice. We will not waiver in that endeavor," said Vallejo PD Deputy Chief Bob Knight.
Mayor Andrea Sorce said she will focus on securing resources to help prevent gun violence in the community and will explore ways to bolster the police department and possibly bring in outside law enforcement to help tackle crime.
"We need to make sure that we have that trust so the community can come forward, that they can feel comfortable sharing tips, and most importantly, that they can give input as we work together to build that shared vision of public safety," the mayor said.
So far, no arrests have been made.
