Rossville (KSNT) - It's been nearly two weeks since the record-breaking blizzard that swept over northeast Kansas, but some Kansans are facing long-lasting repercussions.  Some people in Rossville say they haven’t received any mail since the storm hit.  Missing mail has been the talk of the town since the start of the year, after the winter storm dumped more than a foot of snow and brought a temporary halt to mail delivery. "My mom, she's got medication and the way her insurance is set up is she gets mailed in medication and it's been delayed," Kayla Harden, a Rossville resident, said. "And it's medication she has to take every day."  How do Kansas ranchers keep livestock warm in cold weather? The mail delay is also causing problems for people who pay bills by mail, like Kayla's parents.  "They don't do paperless, they're kind of old fashioned," Harden said. "So, they always wait for the mail in bills, and they mail in their checks. It doesn't get received in an adequate time. They have been a few different times threatened to have utilities turned off, saying they haven't received payment when it's been sent over a week ago."  Chad Shafstall, another Rossville resident, thinks the problem lies with the vehicles USPS uses to deliver mail. "Actually, the delivery people don't have the right vehicle to go up and down he road," Shafstall said. "You can't very well go through six or eight inches of snow in a minivan"  Shawnee Co. Parks and Rec looks for seasonal workers He says getting his prescribed medication has been a hassle with no mail carriers in sight.  "I had medication from the VA hospital, and it's been two weeks late," Shafstall said. "So I've had to go in and pick up medication that's been prescribed to me and usually delivered to my home."  27 news again reached to the United States Postal Service (USPS) for answers. They responded by saying "when drivers can’t access a neighborhood – they try again the Next Delivery Day. " For more local news, click here.
