CHELMSFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — A hawk found itself in quite the predicament Thursday afternoon after it was hit by an SUV in Chelmsford, according to Massachusetts State Police. Troopers were called to a rest stop off of I-495 North after a driver pulled over and found the hawk's body lodged in the grill of their Honda CRV with its wings sticking out. Police said the troopers reached out to the Massachusetts Environmental Police, Chelmsford Animal Control and technicians with Nucar Honda for assistance. It was eventually freed from the grill and secured in a cage. Police said the hawk was conscious, alert and "other than some ruffled feathers" did not appear to be injured. Massachusetts Environmental Police brought the hawk to the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Grafton for evaluation. Close Thanks for signing up!
