Jan 16, 2025
It was a successful night down in Stephan for the Mobridge-Pollock basketball teams Thursday night, with both earning blowout wins. The girls set a new single-game scoring record with 89 points in their victory over the Lady Chieftains, 89-41. Just three minutes into the game, the Lady Tigers held an 18-2 advantage. With the full court press working like a charm, they were ahead 30-7 at the end of the first quarter, and made it 55-23 at halftime. The foot stayed on the gas in the second half, with most of the starters playing the whole third quarter. Once they departed, the players off the bench added 20 in the fourth to set the new program record for single game points.
With a season-high 15 points, sophomore Brooke Bain was our player of the game. It was her fourth straight game in the starting lineup. Junior Tegan Konold had 21 for the Lady Tigers, and junior Jayda Thompson notched a season-best 11. The team improved to 8-1 with their third straight win, and their fifth consecutive over Crow Creek. They play Shiloh Christian next in Bismarck, on Saturday with coverage starting at 3:15. Crow Creek drops to 3-6 with their fourth straight defeat.
The boys game ended in similar fashion, as the Tigers walloped Crow Creek 72-42. It was back and forth for the opening minutes, before Mobridge-Pollock found their stride. They began to suffocate the Chieftains ball-movement offense, and broke through for 42 points in the first half, taking a 42-18 lead into the locker room. It was a closer second half, but the Tigers had a chance to get everyone into the game.
Senior Jackson Eisemann scored more points than anyone in a game for Mobridge-Pollock this season, he finished with 26. He made three-point shots all over the court, including three from the left corner in the first half. Sophomore Shooter Frederick buried five triples, en-route to his season-best 20 points. The Tigers picked up their first road win of the season, and improve to 6-3 overall. Their next game is not until January 31, when they host Chamberlain. Thursday’s contest dropped Crow Creek to 4-6.
