Taking a look at current snow numbers
Jan 16, 2025
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The mild air from Thursday will melt some of the snow and ice we have in KELOLAND. And while colder temperatures are on the way for this weekend and early next week, moisture is limited, so whatever snow we get will remain very light.
Bulldozing the Big Sioux
But many in KELOLAND are used to light snow amounts this year as snow totals are well below average. Here's a look at where we are for snow totals this season.
Winner has received the most on this map with just over 11 inches, followed by Rapid City at 10.7 inches.
The totals taper off as you work your way into central and parts of eastern KELOLAND.Watertown has the highest total in eastern South Dakota with 9.6 inches
This is a look at where I stand on my snowfall predictions. I predicted below-average snowfall for Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, and Pierre and so far so good.
With a little more in the prediction for Rapid City, it's nice to see a higher total.
And it's nice for western South Dakota to see the higher total and recent snow for snow enthusiasts.
