MARION, Ark. -- Some Marion, Arkansas, apartment residents forced to go without heat for weeks say they are concerned about a drastic temperature drop over the next few days. Henriette Flanagan has lived at the Four Seasons Apartments for about five years and said no one in the complex has had central heat since early December. The 65-year-old said she has been wearing a coat and ski cap inside her home and relying on two space heaters to stay warm. "Flanagan said, "The rest of the people do not have heat. We need some heat up here." Another Arctic blast coming. Is wintry weather possible again? Flanagan said the managers of her apartment complex loaned her one of the space heaters, but she's afraid to use it at night. She said she had to stay at her niece's house during last week's snowstorm. "We all wear two shirts to keep warm, and sometimes we sleep with our clothes on," Flanagan said. "It's too cold to get undressed and put your pajamas on." A neighbor who did not want to be identified said she has three space heaters running in her apartment. She said she recently suffered a stroke and has trouble moving the heaters from room to room and wants the problem fixed. "They say they are waiting on the owners," she said. A sign on the door said the office closed at 3:30 p.m. The only phone number listed for the complex was connected to a fax machine. Flanagan said it doesn't appear the heat will be back on anytime soon. "There is supposed to be a man coming and taking the old pipes out so another man can come and put the new pipes in so we can get some heat, and they've been saying that and saying that and saying that," said Flanagan. Teen charged with murder in MS town square shooting WREG contacted the City of Marion about the problem. Mayor Tracy Brick said she had just learned about the issues at the Four Seasons Apartments and was told a city inspector was investigating the matter. "This is a private company and private landlord. So, it's in no way affiliated with the city. So our jurisdiction on it would be if it was a code enforcement issue, but I don't know all the details at the point," said Mayor Brick. "Once I speak to the inspector, I'll know what to do next.'' Flanagan doesn't like to leave her home, but she is already making arrangements to stay with family or friends when temperatures drop into the teens over the weekend. Check the latest forecasts from WREG Weather Weather forecasters are showing overnight lows in the teens starting late this weekend and into early next week for the area.
