(WFRV) - The passing of Bob Uecker, the legendary voice of the Milwaukee Brewers, has left Wisconsinites in mourning.  Uecker’s voice was a constant presence in the lives of baseball fans for over 50 years, and his impact extended far beyond the ballpark. As northeast Wisconsin reflects on his legacy, many recounted his humility, passion for the game, and connection to those in the Badger State. Packers star running back Josh Jacobs gifting fan and Marine Corps veteran with Super Bowl tickets "Bob Uecker is a well-known figure," said Brad Klemek of Green Bay. "All of his casts and his announcements have been replayed and continue to be replayed. Every time you watch a Brewers game, they still go back to highlights of Bob Uecker’s voice and descriptions and passion for the game."  For many, Uecker was an icon of Wisconsin baseball, standing alongside other sports legends in the state’s history.  "Well I think he goes down as some of the icons," Klemek added. "Being from Green Bay, there's a lot of history with the Packers, but when you think of anything baseball-related in Wisconsin I think Bob Uecker is probably up there." His place in the hearts of fans was solidified by his deep love for the game and Wisconsin. Kurt Alexander of Medford reflected on how Uecker's voice was an integral part of his life. "Well it's just sad, it's that voice coming through the radio every year for forty-some years of my life and listening to it," Alexander said. "It's just sad. I mean, what can you say? He was an icon."  Alexander also shared a personal connection to Uecker, recalling his father’s experiences playing college baseball against him. "My dad played college baseball at Eau Claire and got to play against him when he was with the Eau Claire Braves, the minor league team," he said. "My dad said he was a really good player that talked bad about himself." Uecker’s influence went beyond baseball, with his appearances in films, commercials, and even wrestling making him a household name.  "Between the baseball and the movies and everything, it's more of a state thing, I think it's a national thing," Alexander said. "You'll never forget that voice, I guess, and I think most of the nation won't forget it." His unique ability to make any game interesting, no matter the score, made Uecker a beloved figure.  “I think a sense of humor to start with," Alexander said. "It could be a 15-0 game and he would make it interesting to listen to, and when it was a great game, his voice when he got excited was second to none." Chris Erm of Appleton, like many other Wisconsinites, felt a deep connection to Uecker as the voice of summer in the state.  "He's the voice of summer for Wisconsin," Erm said. "I wish he would have been able to see another World Series and World Series winner with the Brewers."  Uecker’s influence wasn’t confined to sports fans alone. He was known for his wit, humility, and wide-ranging career that crossed into other entertainment avenues.  Packers host ‘Empower’ leadership event for students across the state at Resch Expo Center "He's in the WWE Hall of Fame so you got your wrestling people, he's got his beer commercials, he was in Mr. Belvedere, the Major League movies," Erm said. "He was able to encompass almost everything." As Wisconsin reflects on the loss of Bob Uecker, it's clear that his legacy is far-reaching. His passion for the game, his humility, and his unforgettable voice will remain etched in the hearts of fans for generations to come.
