16yearold turns self in after attempted armed robbery

PORTLAND, Ind. (WANE) -- A 16-year-old was arrested in Jay County after allegedly attempting to rob a store Thursday night.
In a release from the Portland Police Department, officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Pak-A-Sak convenience store located at 1300 North Meridian Street.
When officers arrived at the scene they learned that an individual had flashed a gun during the robbery and then fled on foot.
Later a 16-year-old boy voluntarily surrendered with his parents. He was taken into custody without incident.
The Portland Police Department was assisted by deputies from the Jay County Sheriff's Department.
The investigation is ongoing at this time,
