William "Will Wheeler III Columbia, SC (WCIV) — After five terms serving District 50,  and less than a week into the Legislative session South Carolina State Representative Will Wheeler III announces plans to step down from office. The Sumter native who has been in charge of the representing constituents in parts of Kershaw, Lee and Sumter counties for the past 8 years  said he is resigning during a House meeting held Thursday. Wheeler did not give specific reasons for the abrupt departure, but did say, “After deep reflection, conversations with my family… and careful consideration, I have decided to step down from my service in the South Carolina House of Representatives,” A special election will be scheduled to take place on the first Tuesday falling  20 days after the vacancy is in effect.   Categories: Local News, News, Politics, Richland, State
