ELGIN, S.C. (WOLO)– Kershaw County investigators say a Thursday stand-off has ended in a death.
Authorities say around noon deputies investigated a domestic dispute call in the Ashley Creek Subdivision of Elgin.
During the investigation a male suspect showed a gun to the victim and a KSCO deputy, say the sheriff’s office.
The victim was pulled to safety before the suspect barricaded himself into his home.
After multiple attempted to communicate with the suspect, the sheriff’s office was able to get a judge to sign an arrest warrant.
When deputies entered the home, they were able to locate the man who was dead of a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.
South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was called to investigate the incident.
Kershaw County Coroner David West has identified the deceased as Daniel Leonard Trobaugh, Jr, 78, of Elgin.
