Mother of a murdered woman with a warning to public

CHARLOTTE, NC — The walls of Janus Taiman’s home are covered with memories of her daughter.
“It helps to get through every single day,” Taiman said of the pictures.
Her daughter, Shandiin Sanchez, was murdered on October 27th, 2019. The 20-year-old was killed in the parking lot of her south Charlotte apartment complex.
“It is literally like being dragged through the fiery coals of hell,” Taiman explained.
A 15-year-old boy shot Sanchez in the back of the head after what Taiman’s says was a theft gone wrong.
“The money that was stolen that she died over was stolen from her Bible,” explained Taiman.
The 15-year-old may have pulled the trigger, but it’s Mario Ramirez-Duarte that Taiman harbors more resentment towards.
“Mario masterminded the entire thing,” Taiman said.
Ramirez-Duarte was arrested in connection to Sanchez’s murder, those charges were later dropped. He was arrested again in 2021 in connection to a another murder 10 months before Sanchez was killed. He’s been in jail ever since, awaiting trial for first degree murder and other charges including cyberstalking that Taiman said she was a victim of.
Taiman recently learned that Ramirez-Duarte will be taking a plea deal next week. She says the D.A.’s office told her he could get out within the next year with time served and good behavior.
Taiman tells WCCB the 15-year-old spent four years in prison and will be released next month.
Court documents show Ramirez-Duarte will be in court on January 23rd.
