1 killed when chase with capital murder suspect ends with a crash, gunfire

A capital murder suspect was shot by Dallas police Thursday morning after they say he led officers on a chase into Ellis County and crashed into another vehicle, killing one person and severely injuring another.
According to Dallas police, the crash and shooting occurred at about 10:30 a.m. when a capital murder suspect being pursued by Dallas police crashed into another vehicle along the southbound lanes of Interstate 35E near the Red Oak Road overpass.
Dallas police said officers located the murder suspect in Dallas County and tried to pull him over, but he refused and drove south into Red Oak, where he collided with another driver.
After the crash, police said the man got out of his vehicle with a gun in his hand and moved away from the police officers. The officers fired, hitting the man at least once. Officers provided the man with first aid and he was later hospitalized in an unknown condition.
Dallas police have not released the suspect’s name or said who he’s accused of killing.
Dallas police confirmed one person in the other vehicle was killed in the crash, and another occupant was severely injured. No further information about the victims has been confirmed.

No police officers were injured in the chase, crash, or shooting.
The Dallas Police Department’s Office of Community Police Oversight was notified and sent to the scene. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the officer-involved shooting while the Red Oak Police Department is looking into the crash.
Red Oak police warned drivers to expect delays along I-35E until after 6 p.m. and to seek alternative routes, though one lane of southbound I-35E was reopened at about 4:15 p.m.
