OAKLAND, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The spider monkey found by the CHP following a traffic stop in Madera County in December has had her home upgraded as she continues to recover at the Oakland Zoo. Zoo staff provided an update this week on Azules the spider monkey's recovery, describing her as building muscle and keeping strong and active while she continues to improve. When Azules arrived at Oakland Zoo, she was described as being in critical condition suffering from a respiratory infection and being malnourished. In the update on Wednesday, Oakland Zoo wrote that Azules' is staying strong and active in her updated quarters "all while having a blast." Footage of Azules enjoying her new surroundings can be seen in the video player above.
