Slight increase in humidity to alleviate fire weather danger for the weekend
Jan 16, 2025
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Southern California is getting another break from the extremely dry and gusty conditions that have plagued the region for the last two weeks.
Thursday started out chilly with many inland valley locations dropping to the 30s early in the morning. Offshore flow has dropped off as a low-pressure system to our southwest moves into the region and brings back onshore wind.
The low-pressure system will restore humidity levels and bring some mid-level cloud cover Thursday afternoon with low clouds at the coast and some valleys areas in the evening and morning hours.
Afternoon temps cool down a bit heading into the weekend with 60s for the coast and valleys, low 50s in the mountains and upper 60s to 70s for the desert.
Another Santa Ana wind event is likely to take place next week, but there are discrepancies on when and how strong. Some weather models suggest a moderate event happening as early as Monday while others favor strong winds for next Wednesday or Thursday.
