Albuquerque man who committed violent crime spree, including double murder, sentenced

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man was sentenced in federal court to 25 years in prison for a violent crime spree that began with a double murder in 2020.
On Sept. 7, 2020, Dakota Briscoe used a handgun to attack two men in their yard near Central and Atrisco and then torched their bodies inside of a car, according to the evidence presented in court. Briscoe then attempted multiple armed car jackings while evading arrest and successfully took one vehicle.

He was arrested nine days later at a Border Patrol checkpoint near Las Cruces.
Briscoe, 38, was sentenced after being convicted at trial of two counts of attempted carjacking, one count of carjacking, and the possession and use of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. When released from prison, he will undergo four years of supervised release.
