Foxborough police investigate alleged assault of referees by parent

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — Foxboro police responded to a disturbance that reportedly stemmed from a player parent allegedly assaulting two game referees at the Foxborough Sports Center.
The incident occurred on January 4 at approximately 9:45 p.m. at the East Belcher Road facility, according to Foxborough police.
The initial investigation by officers pointed to the alleged assault, and a follow-up investigation was conducted.
The follow-up included witness interviews, alleged victim interviews and review of game video and cell phone video.
One person will be facing several criminal charges at Wrentham District Court at a later date as a result of the investigation.
The name of the person to be summoned will not be released until probable cause for the charges is determined.
