Discovering the great outdoors, indoors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The new year is only a few weeks old, but more than a few people are already thinking spring.
Vendors are making themselves at home inside the Expo Building in advance of the Greater Sioux Falls Outdoor Show.

"Campers, boats, ATVs, side-by-sides, a lot of new fishing innovations, a lot of new electronic innovations, basically everything to do with the outdoors," show promoter Larry Johns said.
The 37th annual event will feature nearly 50 vendors, including four camper dealers offering everything from tent trailers to fifth-wheel RVs.
"People I think are ready to get out, elections are done, things are starting to normalize a little bit so I think we'll be optimistic. The big camper and boat dealers are optimistic, people have been making calls to their dealerships and are interested in spring," Johns said.
"We do side-by-sides, four-wheelers, trailers, motorcycles, and then we sell a lot of the Bad Boy lawn & garden as well," Empire Motorsports owner Ross Jasper said.
Jasper says they're trying to sell some fun.
"Every year's always a little bit different trying to gauge and guess what everyone wants to buy, but side-by-sides and four-wheelers have been strong so far," Jasper said.
"Get some new stuff out, get my name out there, give people a good deal," Sioux Bait and Tackle's Dan Rensink said.
If fishing is more your speed, Dan Rensink is with Sioux Bait and Tackle in Hawarden, Iowa.
"Anywhere from rods, reels, lures, anything for fishing," Rensink said.
You can grab your favorite color of jig or simply stop by and talk fishing.
"If I sell stuff I'm happy, if I meet with some new people I'm very happy," Rensink said.
Whatever it takes to beat the winter blues.
The Greater Sioux Falls Outdoor Show starts at 2:00 Friday at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds and continues through the weekend. Admission is $9.
