Temperatures rose across central Indiana Wednesday night and we've had a few flurries and light snow showers slide over parts of the state early in the day. Although cloud skies stayed with us, a few spots across the state saw the temperature rise above freezing. A southwesterly wind shift tonight will pump in warmer air tomorrow. Temperatures will rise to near 40° Friday afternoon. This will be the warmest we've been since January 2nd, when we had a high of 41°. Enjoy the warm up, because it won't last long. A couple of cold fronts will move through over the weekend and we are right back to well-below average temperatures. Rain will develop late Friday evening, before transitioning to a rain/snow mix by Saturday morning. Temperatures will fall from the 30s to the 20s on Saturday afternoon as arctic flows into the state. Sunday will be much colder with clouds, flurries and highs in the teens. The coldest chunk of the Polar Vortex will be felt early next week. Expect single-digit highs Monday and Tuesday with morning lows below zero from Monday through Wednesday. This has been a cloudy, cold month so far. This has been a snowy month so far and travel advisories remain in effect. Friday will start with morning fog and will be a dry day. On strong southerly winds, temperatures will rise above freezing Friday afternoon. Rain will spread across the state Friday evening. We'll go from a rain/snow mix to light snow Saturday morning. Temperatures will cool down this weekend with the coldest air of the season arriving next week.
