Eight Wisconsin schools, libraries selected to participate in nationwide FCC program

(WFRV) - The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) selected over 700 participants for its Schools and Libraries Cybersecurity Pilot Program and eight of them are in Wisconsin.
The three-year pilot program, according to the release, explores the use of universal service funding to improve Cybersecurity at schools and libraries. The $200 million budget is from unused universal services funds.

The program also evaluates how effective the funding is in supporting cybersecurity services and equipment, using the evaluation to determine whether or not they'll be funded permanently.

The program is also a part of FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel's 'Learn Without Limits' initiative that aims to ensure connectivity to and within schools and libraries for students.
